This one is one of my favorites. It's entitled: "I will make you a Fisher of men."
Another reason why I think these are kinda interesting is that most of these pictures illustrate the Filipino youth helping out Jesus instead of the other way around. Hmm...
On a more reality-based, in your face, socio-political-economic-USimperialist-Philippines puppet regime (I really needed to take this break from writing this paper) note:
for all you jay fans. if you haven't already, you should download this 11 disc "library of a legend" compilation. it's a ridiculous amount of songs, remixes, and exclusives...almost too much. but out of 11 discs it's not too hard to make at least one playlist you can bump in your tadillac.
this is currently my jigga song of the week...

President-elect Obama returned the congratulatory call of Philippine President Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo yesterday, assuring her of "good relations and cooperation" between the Philippines and United States.
And so begins the REALITY CHECK and confirmation of the fact that the United States' imperialist foreign policies in the Philippines will sadly NOT CHANGE, no matter who holds the position of president.
Here's a further reality check written by Carol P. Araullo, the chairperson of Bayan (the nationwide alliance of progressive people's organizations in the Philippines), entitled "Beyond Euphoria".
Now more than ever, we need to keep the President-elect on check and call him out on his contradictory policies. It seems we can voice our concerns and let Obama know what the people really need at change.gov. Holla at em!

for the last couple of years it seems like almost everyone's been talking about DJ:LA a short film that was produced as part of vc's "armed with a camera" fellowship. even though it toured the asian american film fest. circuit the same time as pilgrimage i was never able to catch a screening. now having finally watched it online i'm really pissed that i didn't get to see it on a big screen with a good sound system!
directed by jerry chan and produced by mitchel dumlao, DJ:LA is now in the running to screen at slamdance. you can peep the film here and then vote for it there.
the film reminded me of the chemical brothers video for "star guitar" directed by michel gondry, on of my favorite music videos of all time. *spark one to this!
seeing this on youtube just doesn't to it justice, invest in this dvd and i guarantee you won't be dissapointed!

Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo arrives in Chicago today. Makes you wonder what she's up to. The Philippine press is running wild with stories of how Arroyo has tried to call Obama twice since his victory last Tuesday, but she has yet to receive a return call.
However, Obama has found the time to accept congratulatory calls from 9 presidents and prime ministers of Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, and Great Britain.
Arroyo is being called an Obama stalker, desperately running after him to offer her congratulations. But of course, her main objective to make sure that the U.S. piggy bank is still freely flowing to support her corrupt and oppressive regime and to provide weapons and training for the Philippine military.
It seems Obama is wary to associate himself with Arroyo and the 933 political killings and 199 enforced disappearances she has overseen in her 7 years of office. Or at least, that's what it seems like at this early stage in the game. He wouldn't want to contradict his message of hope and change by meeting with one of the world's staunchest Bush supporters.
But will he eventually resume business as usual and continue the colonial relationship with the Philippines? It's hard to tell, but we all have to make the effort to keep President Obama accountable to his promises of change and progress.
We've made it past the threat of McCain. But the struggle for genuine change and accountability has only just begun. It's up to all of us to put in work and make sure progress happens. Don't let Obama let us down..

cali's streets have been hot since the passing of prop. 8 which revoked the right of same sex couples to marry. last saturday cindy and i went to the protest against the passing of this fucked-up initiative in hipsterlake where over 20,000 showed up. i learned that some of the small things that can be done to repeal prop 8 is to boycott el pollo loco and the ahmanson theater because both kms restaurant corp and the ahmanson family were huge contributors to the yes on 8 campaign.
also, please sign this online petition to get arnold to reopen prop. 8!
the media has been instigating conflict between those against prop. 8 and california voters of color, specifically the african american community. cindy sent me this posting on racialicious with some real interesting points on this issue.
